Mobi PCS has enhanced its wireless network on the Big Island with the activation of a new cell site in Hilo. Mobi’s statewide network provides service to both the company’s CDMA voice and Hele Wireless Broadband customers.
The new Hilo site provides enhanced in-building and street coverage in Panaewa, around Prince Kuhio Plaza and Puainako Shopping Center, as well as in the residential areas near the Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
“The network enhancements allow Mobi customers to use their unlimited voice and data services with fewer dropped calls and clearer in-building and outdoor reception,” said Ed Kurzenski, vice president and chief technical officer. “I feel absolutely confident that Mobi PCS offers the best wireless service of any carrier in Hilo.”
Kurzenski said the local carrier is committed “to aggressively adding cell sites and improving hardware to optimize its statewide network.”
These network enhancements will augment system capacity and expand coverage, he said. “Even prior to recent network enhancements, an independent QMark Research survey revealed a 96 percent satisfaction rate among the company’s customers.”
Mobi’s CDMA voice network handles an average of 1.5 million calls per day. On the Big Island, Mobi PCS is available through retail locations in Prince Kuhio Plaza and at Lanihau Center in Kona. In addition, Mobi PCS is available through many other dealers, as well as at all 7-Eleven and full-service Longs Drugs locations. For more information, call 688-MOBI or visit mobipcs.com.
